Coach Morton Named Southeast Region Coach of the Year by USTFCCCA
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that Brandon Morton has been named the Women’s Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
Award winners are determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches after the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Brandon Morton is in his 9th season as the Head Coach of the Cross Country and Track and field programs at Converse. He has coached more than 40 All-Conference performers and numerous All-Region performers.
Morton led the Valkyries to their first team title at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships, winning seven events and medaling in ten. He spearheaded the inception of Converse’s first men’s track and field program.
A native of Greenwood, S.C., Morton earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Winthrop University and his Master’s in Exercise Science from Campbell University. He was a standout track performer at Winthrop, a two-time NCAA East Regional Qualifier, and a Big South Conference Champion. He was named to the Big South All-Conference seven times.
