Cross Country Teams Earn Track & Field Academic Honors
The Converse men’s and women’s cross country teams earned 2023 All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This was the men’s first time earning the honor since their inaugural season at Converse in 2021.
In addition to the teams, Lauren Beatty ’24, Kamile Dixon ’24, Froukje Mons ’27, and Ruth Spijker ’26 were selected as All-Academic student-athletes.
“These student-athletes put in a lot of hard work in the classroom to maintain great team GPAs.”

Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic distinction. As an individual, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
The women were one of only 35 programs in the country to post a team GPA of 3.7 or higher.
“I’m proud of the cross country squads for being named to the 2023 All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA,” said head cross country coach Mark Rennix. “These student-athletes put in a lot of hard work in the classroom to maintain great team GPAs, all while performing at a high level on the cross country course.”
In the classroom, the women’s cross-country team posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.73, while the men’s squad recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.30. The women were one of only 35 programs in the country to post a team GPA of 3.7 or higher. They also secured the highest team GPA for the Conference Carolinas.
