Education Specialist (EdS) in Literacy

The Ed.S. in Literacy online program consists of 36 hours and includes courses dealing with the theories, methods and materials for reading, reading instruction, language, language instruction, reading assessment and diagnosis. The program fulfills a Master’s + 30 requirement and leads to the Literacy Teacher or Literacy Coach SC certification endorsement. The program may fulfill a Master’s + 30 designation and may lead to endorsements in literacy.

Applicants must have the following:

• A valid teacher’s certificate
• Three years of teaching experience
• An appropriate master’s degree for teaching at the elementary or secondary school level
• A 3.0 GPA in their master’s degree from an accredited institution

For consideration of admission, the applicant should have the following credentials:

• A completed online application, including the $40 application fee
• Official degree-granting undergraduate transcript and graduate transcripts from all colleges attended.
• Three letters of recommendation
• *A personal statement
• Copy of teaching certificate

Please be specific on how Converse can help you become the “Ideal” Educator, taking special care to organize your essay clearly and proofread your work. The personal statement should be submitted as a part of the application or emailed to the Office of Graduate Admission.
